You been out ridin' fences for so long now
Oh, you're a hard oneBut I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' youCan hurt you somehow
Don't you draw the queen of diamonds boy
She'll beat you if she's able
You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet
Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can't get
Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no younger
Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home
And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin'
Your prison is walking through this world all alone
Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day
You're losin' all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?
Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you
(let sombody love you)
You better let somebody love you
before it's too late

well, i know u have heard this song and its quite 'old' already!
but, today, when i chanced upon it on youtube again, i had a sudden thought.
As we all know, this song is a cover of the hokkien oldie, and many of us youngsters wouldnt know of this song if Wu Jia Hui didnt sing this song.
i feel that this song is a signal to many youngsters these days, to appreciate the music that our parents or elderly once listened when they we young.
many a times we find the hokkien oldies boring, but did we realli try to enjoy it?
this song let me think that, by trying to understand the music that our parents listen to, we are also trying to understand how our parents think and feel.
age gap or generation gap does exist, but i feel that music gap doesnt exist.
my mom was an avid music lover, and she listens to english oldies, chinese oldies, hokkien oldies as well as modern pop music.
she introduce me to many of her favorite oldies, while i introduce her the best chinese pop music.
now, i love english oldies more than pop. haha
and i feel that i understand my mom more haha
this song by Wu Jia Hui is very nice, attracts many young listeners, i believe Jia Hui will be successful.
all the best WJH! lolx
